Cabin Fever Reliever Raffle event to benefit HOPE Center

The Alle-Kiski HOPE Center Inc. will host its annual Cabin Fever Reliever raffle event from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 at the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Lane, Harrison.

There will be door prizes, a basket raffle and a cash bar. Tickets cost $15 each and include food, non-alcoholic beverages and a chance to win a door prize.

Volunteers needed at Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is looking for volunteers to help out at the shelter in New Kensington.

There are opportunities available every day to suit every person including dog and cat care, event and fundraising work, cleaning, maintenance, doggy day outs, fostering, office work and administration.

Strengthening Families seminar series offered in New Kensington

The ParentWISE program at Wesley Family Services will sponsor a Strengthening Families seminar series for parents and youth age 10 to 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. April 11 to May 23 at Wesley Family Services Pioneer, 1045 Fourth Ave., New Kensington

The series will discuss how to prevent teen substance abuse and other behavioral problems, strengthen parent and youth communication skills, increase academic success and prevent violent and aggressive behavior at home and at school. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. each night.
