40 X the BEST BRUNCH SPOTS IN AMSTERDAM TO VISIT
Bar Bellini
From focaccia with porchetta, roasted bell pepper or fried fish, vitello tonnato or just a delicious plate of carpaccio. At Bar Bellini, they serve tasty Italian dishes for sharing. Additionally, they have a large menu of delicious cocktails, and of course, the bellini is a must-have.
Ferdinand Bolstraat 17, Amsterdam – barbellini.nl
Pico
Perhaps not the first hotspot that comes to mind for a tasty brunch, but Caffé Pico is the ideal place to enjoy authentic Italian delicacies with your friends. The menu of this hotspot mainly consists of dishes for sharing. From Friday to Sunday, you can enjoy the delicious dishes they serve from 12:00 onwards. Also, be sure to have a look at the toilet, as the disco ball and mood lights make you feel like you’re in a glamorous nightclub, definitely worth a visit!

Greenwoods Keizersgracht & Singel
As the oldest brunch restaurant in Amsterdam, Greenwoods can not be missing from this list. Since 1988, it has been a household name in Amsterdam Centrum and one of those evergreens where you keep returning for the truly typical English brunch and breakfast dishes. From breakfast to brunch and from lunch to the best English tea with scones; this address is not to be missed. On the daily menu, you’ll find delicious English breakfast and brunch classics, along with some classic lunch dishes. Greenwoods also caters to everyone becoming vegetarian or vegan, with various vegetarian and vegan versions of the English brunch dishes on the menu. And if you know, you know; but the traditional English cream tea with freshly made scones is legendary. You can find Greenwoods locations in Amsterdam on Singel and Keizersgracht, and both locations have a terrace. So head to Greenwoods quickly for a truly English Breakfast or a homemade burger while enjoying a homemade drink or coffee in one of the authentic canal houses.

Cafe Restaurant Metro
One of the most enjoyable new restaurants in Amsterdam North. And the good news is they have their own bakery, so they’re open early every day. It’s best to stop by around lunchtime here! From 12:00 onwards, they already have a few divine dishes on the changing menu. I’d say go ahead and order a variety of dishes from the menu, and don’t skip the snacks either. Fill the table, add a glass of wine or another tasty drink, and just enjoy! TIP: Also great to combine with NXT Museum, right next to Café Restaurant Metro.
Asterweg 22, Amsterdam, Noord – caferestaurantmetro.nl

Le French Café
In the always lively and charming Javastraat, you can visit Le French Café all day long. A modern French bistro where the menu is filled with the best of France, and where you can feel like you’re in Paris for a moment. The interior is absolutely fantastic! Another thing I really like about this new restaurant in Amsterdam is that they’ve created various cosy corners throughout the place. A table to sit at, small bistro tables where you can quietly read a newspaper, a cosy bar for endless drinks later in the day, and of course, a lovely terrace. On the menu, you’ll find delicious brunch dishes such as Eggs Benedict, steak tartare, and more. Want to hang out for drinks after brunch? Then Le French Café is definitely the place to be.

Café Twee Prinsen
Following Café Binnenvisser in Amsterdam-West and Restaurant Cornerstore in Amsterdam North, the same team opened Café Twee Prinsen in Amsterdam city centre. Seven days a week, from drinks until midnight, and on weekends, they also serve lunch or brunch. As you look inside from the outside through the large windows, you can already see the cosiness of a modern Dutch brown café. Here, you’re in the right place for good food and drinks, and on sunny days, you can sit wonderfully on the terrace by the canal.
Prinsenstraat 27, 1015 DB Amsterdam – (Centrum) – tweeprinsen.nl
Chun Café
It might be a good thing that there’s always a long line at Chun in the Nine Streets. Otherwise, I’d have breakfast here every day with their delicious brioche toasts! In my opinion, these might be the tastiest sandwiches you can get in Amsterdam right now. So, my advice is: make sure to arrive before 10:00 am on weekends or go during the week (when it’s a bit less busy). It’s worth the wait. Favourites from the menu are definitely the bulgogi and the shrimp toast. Have them with a homemade lemonade. They also serve excellent coffee.

Ode aan de Amstel
If you’re looking for good food by the water in the East of Amsterdam, you have to visit Ode aan de Amstel. In the spot where Riva used to be, you can now enjoy an accessible all-day menu. Prefer to go all out with multiple courses? Then choose for the chef’s menu! They are open every day from 11:00 am for lunch, and on Sundays, they also offer a delightful Sunday Brunch.
Amstelboulevard 1, Amsterdam – odeaandeamstel.nl
Next
Next on the NDSM Wharf is the new addition from the team behind PLLEK. You could see it as the larger, slightly more mature, but still rebellious and unclassifiable brother. They’re open seven days a week from as early as 9:30 am, so this is also the right place for breakfast. NEXT also has a fantastic bar where you can enjoy cocktails later in the day. I think this is one of the few places in Amsterdam where you want to go in the morning for breakfast, brunch later, and a party in the evening!
NDSM-Kade 2, Amsterdam – nextndsm.nl
Wils Bakery Café
Joris Bijdendijk (known from RIJKS* and Wils*) has opened a new restaurant at Amsterdam’s Stadionplein. Wils Bakery Café is a combination of a bakery and a bistro, making it the convivial sister of the Michelin-starred restaurant Wils, located on the third floor of the building. Wils Bakery Café offers the best of both worlds. A place where the craftsmanship of a bakery meets the conviviality of a French bistro. While Wils* offers dining or lunching in a more exclusive atmosphere, at Wils Bakery Café, you can walk in without a reservation for classic lunch and bread dishes. Think: the Reuben Sandwich, asparagus quiche, and pâté en croûte. Additionally, Bijdendijk and his team serve their best versions of schnitzel, meatloaf, and soft serve ice cream. You can also buy bread, pastries, and lunch to go from the bakery itself. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Stadionplein 24 – begane grond, 1076 CM Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Zuid – wilsbakerycafe.nl
Bakkerij Loof
For breakfast in Amsterdam West, there’s really only one place you should go. If you love perfect bread, that is. Bakkerij Loof is a lovely spot where you can sit and enjoy. Whether you want to have breakfast alone with a magazine or newspaper or meet up with a friend. When the weather is nice, it’s also great for people-watching from the terrace on the always lively Bilderdijkstraat. And did I mention they open at 8:00 am? Bakkerij Loof is located in the same corner building as Café Binnenvisser, where you can join from early evening onwards.

Oeuf Amsterdam
Do you enjoy having eggs in the morning? Then you must definitely have breakfast or brunch at Oeuf. Here you’ll find everything with eggs. From a croque madam to a poached egg with salmon, an egg with salmon, or just a tasty omelette.
Daniël Stalpertstraat 36, Amsterdam – Oeufamsterdam.nl
Bakkerij Wolf
It started as a bakery, but now you can also enjoy sitting down for a meal. The top baker from Morgan & Mees, Paula, makes the most delicious sandwiches, pastries, and croissants; simply mouthwatering. The café is open from Tuesday to Sunday. Recently, they’ve also started serving dinner on some evenings, so keep an eye on their website for updates. This spot is perfect for an early breakfast or a delicious lunch in the Nine Streets.
Wolvenstraat 22, Amsterdam, Negen Straatjes – instagram.com/bakkerijwolf
Arie
Arie is the new restaurant in Amsterdam from the same team behind Bar Bonnie. It’s an ode to the Amsterdam pub. From 9:00 am, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, lunch, and in the evening, dinner. Taste the traditional family recipes of the Goudvisch family, such as Zeeland mussels in white beer.
Ferdinand Bolstraat 24, Amsterdam, De Pijp – arie.goudvisch.nl
The Lobby
The Lobby is my all-time favourite restaurant for a brunch or lunch. Eggs royale, caesar salad, flammkuchen, or perhaps the steak tartare? Whatever you choose, it’s always excellent at The Lobby. The restaurant on Fizeaustraat in East is a bit fancier than the one on Nes, but both are highly recommended.
Nes 49 en Fizeaustraat 2, Amsterdam –The Lobby

Cocotte
The Spuistraat in the heart of the city centre isn’t the first street that comes to mind when you’re looking for a nice breakfast spot. But with the arrival of Cocotte by Hexagone, that has changed. Here you can enjoy savoury galettes, sweet crêpes, an extensive breakfast, café gourmand, tarte tartin, and more delights. With its rustic decor inspired by the French countryside, you can start your day here in peace.
Spuistraat 127, 1012 SV Amsterdam – instagram.com/cocotte.hexagone
The Cottage
At this spot in the East of Amsterdam, you’re in the right place for British comfort food. British brunch dishes that you don’t see everywhere in Amsterdam, and everything is homemade. They also frequently offer Sunday Roast on weekends. Check their website and social media for specials on the menu.
Linneausstraat 88, Amsterdam –thecottage.amsterdam
Le Petit George
An all-day hotspot found in several locations across the city. For breakfast, brunch, or lunch, this is the place to be. They open as early as 10:00 am from Friday to Sunday. Start your day right with freshly squeezed orange juice and fluffy American pancakes. They also have a lovely terrace for when the weather is nice.
Willemsparkweg 232, Amsterdam, Oud-Zuid – George.amsterdam
Vooges aan ‘t IJ
Just far enough from the city centre to have a sense of peace, yet secretly within walking distance of Amsterdam Central. Vooges aan ‘t IJ understands better than anyone what gives guests that ultimate relaxed feeling. Whether you’re sitting by the fireplace in winter or on the terrace overlooking the IJ in summer. It’s an address where we keep coming back for the great atmosphere.

Karavaan
Around the corner from Kwakersplein, you’ll find the cosy Karavaan. An all-day hotspot where you come not only for your first cup of coffee, brunch, lunch, or a friendly drink with friends, but also where you can comfortably open your laptop to work for a while. They open every day at 9:00 am, so it’s great for early meetups with friends! And did I mention they have a lovely terrace?
Kwakersplein 2, Amsterdam –karavaanamsterdam.nl
Box Sociaal
The two owners are of Australian descent and like to mix this with the Dutch cuisine. They have Holtkamp bitterballen, but also crunchy Mac and Cheese balls on the menu. They also offer various breakfast bowls, sandwiches, and real brunch dishes to lick your fingers at. All with an Australian twist!
Plantage Middenlaan 30A, 1018 DG Amsterdam – boxsociaal.com
De Ysbreeker
On the Weesperzijde in Amsterdam-Oost, you’ll find grand-cafe de Ysbreeker. Not trendy, but a spot where locals keep coming back. They open every day at 08:00 am, perfect for early birds. You can start your day here with a cup of coffee from the espresso bar, but also if you’re in the mood for a tasty brunch. From poached eggs with salmon and hollandaise sauce to coconut cruesli with yogurt, you can have it all here. In the summer, they have one of the best terraces in Amsterdam East.

Biscuit Baby
Speciality restaurants have been a success in Amsterdam for some time now. Offering just one thing on the menu and doing it very well. Recently, a new name can be added to this list, as Biscuit Baby has opened on Kinkerstraat. At this restaurant, you can score biscuits, cakes that resemble scones but with a different twist. These biscuits have a soft texture with the creamy taste of butter. Unlike scones, this small piece of cake is not sweet but savoury. Especially in America, these biscuits are combined with a hearty meal. Think fried chicken or spare ribs. And this chicken with biscuit is exactly why you want to go to Biscuit Baby!

De Wasserette
Let’s be honest, De Wasserette is quite a hotspot in Amsterdam, isn’t it? You’ll want to sit down at this small restaurant early in the morning. They open at 07:30 am. Sit on the terrace with a warm cup of coffee and watch the early market visitors from Albert Cuyp pass by.

Lotti’s
The restaurant of The Hoxton hotel! Great for evenings, but in my opinion, it’s a favourite for brunch. It has a nice international vibe, and the eggs Benedict are in my top 5 in the whole city!
Herengracht 255, 1016 BJ Amsterdam – thehoxton.com
