Busy Week!

Monday, April 30th, 2012

It’s been a busy week for the brothers at Epsilon-Eta. On Saturday April 21st, Epsilon-Eta welcomed two new brothers into the bond. Congradulations:

  1. Alex Freska, EH 1293
  2. Michael Miwa, EH 1294

It was a quick transition for the new brothers as we planned for the next big event on our agenda. The annual Relay for Life at RPI occurred this past weekend, April 27th-28th, with an all-night relay to help fight cancer, and engineer more birthdays. As a team, Lambda Chi Alpha, Epsilon-Eta raised $4,742 to battle cancer, and came in at just $10 short of being third place. As a whole, the relay at RPI raised $82,160 to fight cancer. Of course, our success wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our alumni and family who donated to our team. Special thanks goes to our top 3 fundraisers: Ryan Sinclair, EH 1273, who raised $625, Karl Chung, EH 1264, who raised $575, and Stephen Provost, EH 1226, who raised $500.

The morning after relay was also RPI’s annual Greek Awards Ceremnony, where countless awards are handed out to sororities and fraternities on campus who excel in certain aspects. Epsilon-Eta is proud to take home 4 awards from the ceremony. Brother Brian Orecchio, EH 1221, won Order of Omega Man of the Year. Brother JP Trasatti, EH 1225, won Executive Leader of the Year, and Brother Stephen Provost, EH 1226, won Greek Man of the Year. Lastly, the hard work put into the house by the actives during last semester’s and throughout the semester has culminated in winning the Housing Award at the Greek Awards Ceremony. This award goes towards the house that has put in the most effort to beautify their house. Be sure to drop by the house and congratulate the new brothers, and the award winners, as well as check out the handy work put into the house!

Stay tuned for pictures of Relay for Life, and the Awards Ceremony!

Brian Lewis, EH 1208 Tapped in to the Phalanx Honor Society

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, brother Brian Lewis, EH 1208 was inducted in to the Phalanx Honor Society. Brian, a co-terminal masters student studying Human Computer Interaction, EMAC and Computer Science, is a very active brother within EHZ, serving has the High Phi and High Kappa.  He is currently working on the fourth evolution of the Inner Circle Journey and has ultimately been classified as a “Super Brother” at EHZ. However, it is this involvement plus his campus involvement that he was recognized for Phalanx.

Brian is a long time member of the Rusty Pipes and has been a member of the GM Week Committee for the past three years. Brian is the currently the president of Order of Omega, an organization for which he was honored by in 2011 as Man of the Year. Brian has become well known at RPI for his creative designing, often called upon to use his talents to design logos for several on campus departments, tee shirts for all of the organizations he is part of, and of course the rush shirts at EHZ. Brian is the brother that designed the 75th Anniversary Logo and many of the banner ads on our webpage.

The phrase “Super Brother” has been coined at EHZ as a brother that consistently goes above and beyond for our Zeta. Brian is a passionate, talented and an outstanding brother who will always step up when needed in the brotherhood. Brian goes above and beyond in all that he does, at RPI and in the chapter. One of our advisors, Geoff Seber, EH 1250, who has worked with Brian since his freshman year had this to say, “Brian is very deserving of being tapped in the Phalanx Honor Society.  Since his first year, Brian has become very involved on campus, quickly becoming a student leader.  He is an example to other students and brothers.  Brian has made major impact at RPI that will last a lifetime, we are honored to call him a brother and a friend.”

We are very happy and proud of him for being tapped in the Phalanx Honor Society!

If you would like to contact Brian directly to wish him congratulations, you may do so at lewis.brianr@gmail.com
