Dinner with Dr. Jackson!

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Everyone on the Patio!

This past Tuesday evening, Epsilon-Eta was proud to host Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, President of RPI, and members of her cabinet, including, Dr. Tim Sams, Ms. Virginia Gregg, and Mr. John Kolb for dinner. The night started with tours of the house, including our history room, library, and other various rooms throughout the house. Following the tours, High Alpha, Craig Hoffstein, EH 1243, gave a quick speech outlining the recent accomplishments of the house. Dinner was then served. Dinner included a salad, roast beef, carrots, mashed potatoes, and coffee for desert. The entire dinner was the creation of brother Sebastian Daou, EH 1239. Following the dinner, each of the cabinet members had nothing but great things to say about the evening, and how grateful they were for dinner and the tours.

Epsilon-Eta continues to strive to have great administration connections, and this dinner was no different. Being the only Greek house that Dr. Jackson had visited this semester, Epsilon-Eta was able to set the bar high for other organizations, while also leaving Dr. Jackson with a great impression of Greek Life on campus. We hope to be able to invite her and the cabinet back again for dinner sometime.

Happy 75th Birthday to Epsilon-Eta Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha

Happy 75th Birthday to Epsilon-Eta Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha – April 17, 2012

The active brothers of Epsilon-Eta would like to wish all of our alumni a happy birthday.  75 years ago today our brotherhood began a long tradition of great brothers, best friends, fantastic memories and remarkable history!  Today we are celebrating with the RPI community with a birthday celebration (which includes a cake) in the middle of campus.  Invitations were given to the many faculty and staff that have helped us to grow over the year.

We hope you take a few minutes to reflect on the meaning of LXA in your life.

We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, and its traditions, principles, and ideals. The Crescent is our symbol; pure, high, ever growing, and the cross is our guide, denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal.

May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha, and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha, and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts, that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love.

Passing of brother Patrick Henry Johnston, EH 1098

Pat's Line

The brothers of Epsilon-Eta mourn the passing of our brother Patrick Henry Johnston, EH 1098. Approximately one year ago, Pat was diagnosed with late stage cancer and was determined from the very onset to fight. Unfortunately, the battle was too big to win outright but Pat did not stop fighting until the very end. On Monday, June 20th, Pat passed away after being surrounded by family, close friends and a number of brothers in his last days.

In memory of Pat, the active brothers of Epsilon-Eta will plant a tree in a strategic location on the RPI campus with an engraved plaque that will include his name, Zeta number and the cross and crescent. During his time at Epsilon-Eta, Pat held the position of Phi and we know it was a role he held in the highest of esteem. In recognition of his passion for the Lambda Chi Alpha ritual and the history of the fraternity, this location can be used as a stop during all future Candle Journeys.

This memorial will serve to symbolize all that Pat has done for Epsilon-Eta and signify how he was a symbol of the core values that all brothers represent. In addition it will be a place where he can be remembered for his additional impact on the Rensselaer community in his time here, especially as a member of the Rusty Pipes.

We will hold the memorial dedication and remembrance ceremony during RPI’s Reunion & Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 21 – 23). More information about the plaque dedication and remembrance ceremony will be forthcoming.

The obituary for Pat can be found by clicking here.

If you would like to share memories of Pat you may do so by either visiting the Team Pat Facebook page, or leave a message on the Epsilon-Eta website.
