Reunion & Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 21 – 23, 2011)
EHZ Reunion & Homecoming Recap
The brothers of Epsilon-Eta held a memorable and exciting series of events during RPI’s Reunion & Homecoming weekend. Thank you to the over 50 alumni who returned to campus and joined us at many of our activities during the weekend. The weekend started with an alumni ritual at the chapter house, where both alumni, actives and new associate members were able to experience an open ritual. The group of brothers stood around a fire where the alumni were asked shared their memories and passion for Epsilon-Eta. The associate members were asked to share their thoughts on what they look forward to as being part of the future of the brotherhood.
The weekend continued with a remembrance ceremony on the main campus for Pat Johnston, EH , who passed away this summer after a battle with cancer.
A tree and plaque were dedicated in the area around the Folsom Library and the Voorhees Computer Center. The plaque, which reads - In Memory of Patrick Henry Johnston, EH 1098, Class of 2007 “Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13. In Zeta Alpha Chi, The Brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha, was dedicated with a terrific ceremony, lead by Pat’s little brother Joe Cambareri, EH 1121. Brothers and his family were in attendance to share great stories of Pat from his time on campus and in the house.
The Housing Corporation Board of Directors held their annual meeting during the Saturday schedule, including the election of three positions, the Secretary, won once again by Mike Morganti, EH 781, who is now serving his 25th year as the secretary of the BOD. Congrats Mike!! The position of Vice President for Alumni Relations was also elected and won by Geoff Seber, EH 1250, works with the active brothers as an advisor, helping to build a strong alumni relations program alongside the High Rho. Lastly, the Housing Operations Manager was elected, the seat is now filled by Ricky Rielly, EH 1199, who is tasked with the responsibility to upgrade the physical facility. A special thank you must go out to John Faricelli, EH 712 who help the position of Vice President for six years and helped to upgrade and build a strong alumni tradition. Also to Marty Blatz, EH 1114, who was the Housing Operations Manager for four years and helped to continue to improve the facility.
An amendment to the by-laws was also voted on and approved at the meeting. Lastly, an update from the newly formed Alumni Control Board was presented to the alumni in attendance.
Finally the highlight of the weekend, our new tradition of Cross, Crescent and Clam on Saturday afternoon where over 150 alumni, actives, associate members and guests gathered together to for a time to share stories, tradition and history of Epsilon-Eta. Alumni from the all eras, including as far back as 1951, attended the event. As traditions, a welcome to the alumni from the High Alpha was extended, and the traditional cutting of the cake by the oldest alumnus took place. The food was great, the actives did a great job of welcoming back many from the past.
